Post Three: Current Design Positions

There are a big variety of current design positions today. An Art Director is one of the most important positions available. An Art Director can work in television advertisement, magazines, books, billboards and newspapers. Their Job is to oversee artistic design and make sure work is submitted on time. The Art Director chooses photographers, illustrators, models and any props needed. They oversee the work of the photographer and illustrator. The Illustrator’s job is to create illustrations that represent an idea or a story through two-dimensional or three-dimensional images. The Art directors job is tell the Illustrator what to illustrate. They will make a simple layout on the computer of the design, including the fonts and colours to be used. Comparing the two jobs the Art director tells others what to do and the Illustrator is told what to do.
